Yamaha at Mediatech Africa presents demo maestro Peter Baartmans.

Peter Baartmans is somewhat of a hero to those in the sound and music industry who say he is the all-time greatest exponent of the keyboard. Lucky for them, and indeed every other spectator, Peter will be in South Africa at the Mediatech Africa trade fair to demonstrate the capabilities of, among others, the futuristic Yamaha Tyros 3.

Peter has an enormous repertoire – playing virtually all styles and all genres of music. Watch and learn as Peter takes you through the basics – with one, three and four fingers.

Sony shows what HD has to offer at the Mediatech trade fair.

Jess Goedhals, general manager for Sony Broadcast South Africa, says the Mediatech Africa trade fair will act as the bridge for South Africa’s swing into high definition.

Sony will showcase their new generation HD studio and OB cameras and a new HD vision mixer. Goedhals says the new generation equipment offers affordable solutions for the needs of South African and African based broadcasters.

He adds, “There is virtually no new standard definition equipment now, if anything customers have to consider multi-format equipment, which uses both HD and SD, to be prepared for the future.”

SABC’s amazing expandable HD outside broadcast unit is showcased at Mediatech Africa.

SABC used two of their new high definition outside broadcast vans for the Confederation Cup matches in Rustenburg and Bloemfontein. This included an 18-camera expandable high definition unit, which will soon make another appearance at the upcoming Mediatech Africa trade fair.

The unit can increase from a length of 2.5 metres to 6 metres and can be wired for up to 24 cameras. Cabling and equipment was done locally by Sony. The bodywork for the 18-camera expandable HD unit was done by UK-based coachbuilder Spectra.

You can get an up-close view of SABC’s new 18-camera high definition OB van, as well as the 4-camera multi-purpose HD/SD unit, at Mediatech Africa 2009, 23-25 July at Coca-Cola Dome. For more info go to www.mediatech.co.za.

Gearhouse SA will showcase their LEDVision mobile outdoor trailer at the upcoming Mediatech Africa trade fair. This 40 square metre LED screen is built into a truck, which means it can be taken virtually anywhere and, because no set up or support structure is required, is operational within 30 minutes – literally at the press of a button.

Robyn D’Alessandro, national marketing manager at Gearhouse South Africa, says that the mobile LED screen is incredibly cost effective and simple, without compromising on effect or impact.
