Mediatech 2011 marked a significant achievement for Wild and Marr and we were able to further re-establish our foothold as a leader in the pro audio industry.
Wild and Marr together with Megaview, Eventech, Pure Event Gear, EPH and Matrix Sound staged an outstanding outdoor performance with a combined Harman solution of JBL Vertec subcompact, Soundcraft and Crown.
In an industry where competition is rife, this was an experience that proved vital in really being able to prove a brand‘s audio capabilities.
The exhibition area added to the value of our core business. In our case ‘hearing and seeing is believing’ and we demonstrated this over a very productive three days of business and networking.
Helen de Oliveira Reis, Wild and Marr
We found the Mediatech 2011 show to be one of the best yet, and we were able to engage productively with all of the broadcasters and production facilities during the 3 days of the show, while cementing new relationships as well. The resources committed by our overseas partners was testament to the fact that they view Mediatech as a significant event on their calendars, that was evidenced in the large contingent of overseas experts who assisted with demonstration of the award winning products from Harris, Ross, Hightech and DK technologies, amongst many others. Mediatech also offers an opportunity to the younger generation to be inspired by the technologies they would otherwise be unable to experience.

Gearhouse SA, LEDVision and Gearhouse Splitbeam were the technical sponsors for Mediatech 2011 and we achieved great brand exposure through our association with this high-profile showcase. There were also great networking opportunities with industry players and we brought many of our clients to have a look at the new technologies on offer. Mediatech is growing in leaps and bounds as a business platform for our industry, but possibly the best indicator of its success is the fact that it is anticipated with great enthusiasm by both participants and visitors right across the industry.

After more than 16 months of careful planning, the COA Group was able to display their world-class Audio Visual and Digital Content Creation expertise in a “live ecosystem” stand at Mediatech 2011.
In partnership with Microsoft, Intel, Axiz/Workgroup Adobe and EMC, a custom COA solution seamlessly integrated the various vendors’ products, showcasing a real-time production pipeline from Workstation through to Render Farm, Storage Pool and final output through to consumer endpoint.
“An incredibly successful, professional show - and being a Platinum Stand winner was a great achievement for our first time at Mediatech,”
Ross Joughin, COA Group Marketing Director.
We believe that the show was a huge success for a few reasons. The foot-count through the door far exceeded our expectations and, having sponsored the reception and having had a large stand at the entrance, I believe we received pretty good branding value. With the branding, we used the show as a platform to launch our new brand, Jasco, after the jasco/Spescom merger. Given that our brand was officially changed only a couple of weeks prior to the show, we felt it opportune to be able to present our new face to the market space in this manner. From a business perspective, we gathered quite a few leads, particularly in the Avid, Viewcast, ClearCom, and Sony spaces. Again, it was opportune to have the show when one of our major competitors in the video editing domain, Final Cut Pro (FCP), launched their new version which has been ill accepted by the user base at large. Our Avid Media Composer 5.5 demonstration area was swamped for the duration of the show. Our current local Avid user base loved the opportunity to experience the demonstration setup at the show and to chat with our Avid Media Composer expert who was on our stand with us from Norway, and the folk looking to move over or back to Avid from FCP shared a similar experience.
Steven Sales Manager - Louter – Jasco
The show was definitely a success for us.
A lot of buzz on practically all our products displayed. People were especially interested in our Kurzweil, Hammond, Nord Keyboards, Ultrasone Headphones, Pearl Drums, Washburn Guitars, KXaudio Speakers and the Phonic and Reloop DJ products.
It was a great opportunity for the public to get first hand impressions of these products such as the Ultrasone Headphones which have a great benefit in terms of protecting hearing and reducing listening fatigue. With the increased use of headphones this is now a hot topic.
We had visits and live performances by highly respected and popular SA musicians such as Dr Victor etc.
We generated a lot of sales leads and overall we were quite impressed with the event. Visitors were extremely impressed and excited about the new products on show.

Since the inception of Media Technology Africa (MTA) Inala Broadcast has participated at all of the exhibitions. The attraction of customers to MTA is largely dependent on South African customers, of which the market that we address, is covered by the three main broadcasters, namely South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) / M-Net and E-TV. Inala Broadcast’s participation is therefore based on presence and networking. We also use MTA to showcase the professional broadcast range of products manufactured by companies i.e. JVC Professional. This year we had a new company Aviwest on our stand demonstrating Digital Mobile News Gathering (DMNG) technology which is able to stream H.264 video down to a head end over 3G/4G and Wi-Fi networks, which proved to be very popular with the broadcasters.
We were pleasantly surprised by the amount and quality of the attendees over the three days and their interest shown.
Colin Wainer, General Manager of Broadcast Division, Inala Technologies
Mediatech 2011 was I believe a coming of age event for the expo in South Africa. From the exhibitor registration process to the collection of access cards, the entire process was slick painless and professional. The show itself had a very "international" feel about it, this, totally unrelated to it's size but more to do with the layout of the floorspace and to a large degree the calibre of the stands erected this year by exhibitors. For us as Matrix Sound, the opportunity to demonstrate the features of our product at the outdoor area was by far the most beneficial part of the entire event. It once again provided us with a opportunity to expose a brilliant but relatively unknown product, Alcons Audio, to a wide cross section of the local market, ranging from consultants to venue owners and PA companies to DJ's. This has generated a huge amount of interest and sales enquiries. Our participation at Mediatech was for us most worthwhile.

Mediatech 2011 was the best year for us . As a previous Exhibitor, we had generally promoted software and we found that we were not seeing the return on Investment into these events . This year however we promoted the Various solutions from AJA . The interest was evident from first to last visitor. There was a product on our stand for every customer’s requirements.
AJA Video is a leading manufacturer of high-quality and cost-effective digital video interface, conversion, acquisition and desktop solutions supporting the professional broadcast and post-production markets. Touchvision exhibited AJA in their edit category by bundling with Apple's FCP, Avid's Media Composer as well as Adobe Production bundle’s stereographic workflow. The quality of visitor at this year’s show was of a high standard and we were able to gather many new leads which have resulted in sales.
Bestsellers on our stand as well as our resellers’ were the AJA Ki Pro Mini and Ki Pro ,bought by local production companies and facilities such as Clive Morris productions, Aquavision, Red Pepper and ZSE whom purchased 5.
Stacey Pearson, Touchvision Digital Media Solutions
Taylor Engineering and Nautel were newcomers to Mediatech Africa 2011. Whilst Nautel is respected as a transmitter brand on the African continent, Mediatech afforded us the opportunity to increase our awareness in the broader market, and reinforced our connections with broadcast customers within the SADC region. We believe these connections were good for garnering leads for future business.
The two Nautel seminar sessions on Digital Radio were well attended, because we believe broadcasters are beginning to ask questions about digital radio in Africa, now that it is beginning to take hold on other continents.
We would look forward to supporting Mediatech in future years.
