Idols SA ups the stakes with bigger winner and viewer prizes

The winner of Idols SA Season 11 will be in the audience at the live American Idol final in the US next year. Idols SA headline sponsor Telkom has decided to up the winner’s prize by adding an all- expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles next year to witness how the American series draws to an all-time close. The winner will be accompanying the Idols fan who wins the show’s viewer’s prize.

To get themselves on the plane to LA and sit next to the Idols SA winner in the American Idol auditorium, Idols fans have to get up to speed with their Idols SA history and trivia, and enter the quiz on the official Idols SA website (www.idolssa.tv).

In other Idols SA news, Telkom and the Top 10 Idols finalists are reaching out to fans to make a difference at schools in underprivileged communities. A couple of weeks ago the Idols SA Top 10 announced on their Facebook pages that they will be assisting Telkom in finding three schools that will each receive connectivity worth R300 000 – a total gift of R900 000 worth of ICT connectivity.

The announcement resulted in an overwhelming response with the public nominating more than 500 worthy schools. The deadline for submissions has been extended to 20 October at 23h59.

If you would like to nominate a high school or primary school to be considered for receiving connectivity – which includes computers, internet access, a computer room and maintenance – you can do this on any of the Idols SA Top 10 contestants’ Facebook pages, whether they’re still in the show, or not. To give the school a better chance of being selected, include a brief background about the school and its needs.
