‘Happiness is a Four Letter Word’ to screen at Berlinale
The South African feature film starring Khanyi Mbau, Happiness is a Four Letter Word, will be screening at the Berlin International Film Festival’s market, the European Film Market (EFM), taking place from 11 to 19 February 2016.
AAA Entertainment will host the market premiere screening at EFM on 15 February. Khanyi Mbau will also be on hand in Berlin for the premiere. The market screening is for potential buyers for the film’s international distribution and AAA Entertainment has sent invites to over a thousand buyers to see the film in Berlin.
AAA Entertainment’s Pascal Schmitz has this to say about the screening: “With the South African release of this romantic comedy happening on 19 February 2016, we are really thrilled to have its international market premiere at such a prestigious event as the Berlinale. The film is a perfect example of the high quality of feature films currently being produced in South Africa.”
The film is based on a South African novel of the same name, written by Cynthia Nozizwe Jele. The film, in a first for a South African feature film has three female leads, including Mmabatho Montsho and Renate Stuurmanan in addition to Mbau. The cast also includes Tongayi Chirisa, Chris Attoh, Richard Lukunku.
The film is directed by Thabang Moleya and produced by Bongiwe Selane, Junaid Ahmed and Helena Spring and will open at cinemas across South Africa on 19 February 2016.
