Set in Lagos, Nigeria, The Wedding Party follows Dunni Coker (Adesua Etomi), a 24-year-old virgin bride about to marry the love of her life who happens to be a reformed playboy (Banky W). With two mother’s who can’t stand each other, an appearance from the groom’s ex-girlfriend, and plenty more obstacles in place on the way to the alter, Dunni’s special day holds extreme potential for disaster.
Written by playwright Tosin Otudeko and Kemi Adetiba, The Wedding Party is an Elfike Film Collective production – a collaboration by EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Koga Studios and Inkblot Productions. The executive producers include Mo Abudu, Moses Babatope, Chris Jeyibo and Naz Onuzo.
In addition to Banky W and Adesua Etomi, the Kemi Adetiba directed rom-com stars Richard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Alibaba, Iretiola Doyle.
The Wedding Party will premiere on the opening night, 8 September, of the City to City programme at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2016.
